Investment mortgage higher interest rate or not?

Hello,

my dad was looking at borrowing some money to buy a holiday home abroad but he was worried that interest rates on a homeloan for a second house would be higher.

can anyone tell me if this is the case or whether rates would be the same?

he wont get a mortgage here on foreign property. he would have to get it against his home here , so it would be at normal homeloan rates
