Hello,
Might be a bit difficult to describe this but here goes!
I need to replace some worn 4 inch brass butt hinges on internal doors. The problem is with the location of the 4 holes for the screws on the hinge flaps. The ones I have are staggered right, left, right, left. Every hinge I have seen in a hardware/builders providers shop have the opposite configuration ie. left, right, left, right.
To use these would mean having to fill in the existing holes in the frame and door with dowels or something and re-drill new holes.
Is this situation normal, and was I just very unlucky to get hinges with the "wrong" hole alignment first day? I think we got them in Hickey's in Cork, who sadly are no longer trading.
Thanks.
