Integrated dishwashers and washing machines

My kitchen is in dire need of a revamp but I'm not ready to change the cupboards just yet as design is still an issue.

Most of my appliances are on their last legs and in prep for a new kitchen I was wondering if I could buy integrated appliances now but use them as non-integrated machines until such time as I get new kitchen cupboards?

Thinking of Miele or Siemens (as I have been for a long long time)

This kitchen thing, as previous posts will show, has been with me for some time but I am finally getting to the stage of taking action.
 
As far as I can tell from our own, intergrated appliances just look like regular appliances without the outside 'finish'. The washer dryer that we have does not look very different from a non intergarted appliance as you open the door to use it so it's finished nicely. The diswasher isn't as nice when it doesn't have the door added as it's a mess of metal.
That being said it took us around 6 weeks to get out cupboard doors fitted onto our appliances and it may not have looked pretty but they certainly did the job!

Given that fact isn't it incredable how much more expensive they are than the actual finished models!!!!!!!!!! Re OP question, I see no reason why you couldn't use them until your kitchen is fitted, they are quite ugly though:)
 
agree with lightswitch - they are fine to use without the doors, some are uglier than others in this state, but they do look so much better once everything is finished
 
Miele sell stainless steel doorfronts for their semi-integrated dishwashers etc. for about an extra €80 or €100. That way you can use that to make a semi-integrated model look like a 'normal' machine until you replace your kitchen and then you can fit a kitchen doorfront to it.
 
Yes you will have no problem using it without a door but you could get a door just to cover it. Even a cheap vinyl door in stainless steel effect/silver would look fine for now. A local kitchen company would probably have no problem ordering one in for you.
 
No problems with the appliances working properly but be careful using a fully-integrated dishwasher as they have a spring on the door, when the door doesn't have the weight of a cupboard front on it this can spring back very quickly trapping fingers etc.

Just adding my two cents.

I was renting a small cottage and the kitchen had been revamped and the landlord put in an integrated washing machine and dishwasher. The washing machine was only about 4/5 years old and it broke 3 times during the 10 months I lived there. This washing machine in particular (I don't know if this is the case with all integrated washing machines) had no filter so whenever there was a problem the whole machine had to be taken apart, kitchen got flooded three times (each time it broke) and after the first time it just never worked properly. They're generally narrower so there's less room for all the parts and a filter seems to be seen as non-essential. The dishwasher also broke twice during those 10 months, water flooded out into the kitchen, the dishwasher was only a year old.

Neither of these were being over-used in any way, I lived on my own so dishwasher was on once or twice a week, washing machine around the same.

That's just my experience, good luck with whatever you decide!
