Insuring a maisonette

Just wondering.....regarding a maisonette (in this instance it’s the first floor of 2 storey property) where the ground floor property below is owned by others. The problem is that the properties are divided by suspended wood flooring - timber joists (no concrete slab).
My question is this....Will insurance companies entertain insuring it ?

An insurer would look to cover the property as a whole. If it is owned by a landlord for example and the property is broken into two for rental purposes, the insurance company will insure the full property under a property owners policy to cover the building. The tenants can then insure their contents if they wish. If the ownership is split then it gets more complicated.
