Hi, I am at my insurance renewal stage and I got my son on my policy last year on a learner permit, he has since passed his test and I'm finding it difficult to get quotes from insurance companies, I am currently with coverinaclick.ie who have me insured with Kennco.
So I'm trying to shop around and it's not proving very successful, anyone with any advice about any insurers that will quote for a young added driver?
Thanks.

Try Aviva. You can get an online quote on their website. I have two novice drivers on my policy and they are very competitive.

You could also try Glennons who organised a Chubb policy for my brother where they’ve three teenagers plus the parents on an “anyone can drive anything” policy for about €3k.

New Ireland in Parkgate Street, Dublin specialise in policies for young drivers. After being a named driver for a couple of years they will give a no claims bonus to the young driver if they take out their own policy. The cc of your car will have a large impact as well as the age of the car.

Ok, thanks for that

You should have no problem in transferring to another insurer, as long as YOU are the main driver and are not simply fronting for your son. If you first took out a policy last year and added your son, then it might raise red flags.

Ok, so after phoning every insurer I could think of, I'm going to Allianz...absolutely miles ahead of the rest, thanks folks!
