Inheritance Tax on Shares

Apologies if this has already been posted, a search for it did not return any exact matches.

Relatives probate came through a month ago or so. I have been left some shares. The value at probate date was used for the tax calculation. Is there are course of process that allows me to reclaim overpaid tax where the valuation of the shares at the time of receipt or distribution is considerably less? Would I need to sell the shares, if such a process exists?
