inheritance and Aunt living in UK

Hi,
Can anybody explain to me the tax liabilities, Irish and UK, about receiving inheritance from UK? An Aunt who was living there for last 40 yrs has recently died.

thanks. Do you have to pay the tax immediately after receiving the inheritance or is it at the end of the year.?
