Hi all sorry for the dumbness of this question, but I want to move into the mystical world of IT. I have a very basic knowledge of computers at the moment so obviously I need further education.

Full time education is not an option for me & most evening courses seem to be aimed at doing ECDL or similar courses.

I have been looking at the fas website & they offer some courses online.
one course is a comptia Inet+ course which as far as I can see would be a good starting point (i think comptia are the industry standard - please correct me if I am wrong)

here is the link for the course [broken link removed]

can anyone advise if this is worth doing? & what type of position would I be able to go fo after achieving the qualification?

or does anyone have any advice to offer?

P.S. I know this subject has probably been covered before, I have had a look but with no joy.

To do what specifically? For example systems admin, web design, programming (what sort?) etc. etc.?

to be 100% honest clubman, I dont really know..... hense the apology.

Networking/Systems admin seem to be 2 options that I would be interested in.

You could investigate the IT Diploma or Degree via home study/online through DCU's Oscail.

No formal entry requirements, although being good at maths will help !
