Sister had car accident last October- subsequent problem with arm. shoulder and getting treated via physio etc. MRI showed that previous degenerative damage in neck and was exacerbated by soft tissue injury.

Expected to make full recovery re. neck strengthening exercises but previous generation will remain one would think.

Will she now not be eligible to apply for income protection?

Income Protection

Thanks for reply- was thinking that should be an option- is there typically a time frame that the exclusion might apply for?

Also, can you distinguish between a trade union membership policy- appears that employee has to keep subscriptions up to date... is the 'normal' policy not the same?

you need to read terms and conditions. If it si a 'union' type policy, such as teachers/nurses, then it is a policy condition that they remain members of the union.

A 'normal', by which you probably mean 'non union related' cannot have such a condition as the policyholder is NOT a union member.

Income Protection- Non union policy

Thanks for that- do you expect 'non union' option will have less benefits?

No. The policy protects your income. There are terms and conditions on all policies. the percentage of your income payable and the deferral period might differ as public sector workers get full pay for a longer period than private sector workers.
