At what age can a child commence working and having an income.

Also, at what age is a child allowed have an annual tax credit and what is that amount.

My daughter is 17 and starting college and will be having a part time job earning approx 10k in the coming year.

If anyone can tell me what tax she would be due to pay on this amount that would be very helpful.

Thanks

Thanks for info. Thought a single person would have a higher tax credit than 1650 though !

Ya if unrelated they would get the PAYE cr as well extra 1650 total €3,300.

So no tax paye or USC payable. Therefore any need to make a tax return on this.

Tax will be deducted under PAYE by employer so tax return not essential unless further credits to claim, unlikely I would imagine, presume you are still paying any medical or dental bills :)

If your daughter is starting (or has recently started) her part time job the first thing she needs to do is fill up a (revenue) form 12A and send it off to revenue as soon as employment begins.

She will then receive a tax credit certificate and her employer receives a copy.
