Ikea Kitchen Dublin or Belfast price diff?

Just wondering if it would be worth waiting for the Dublin Ikea to open to buy a kitchen or given the vat and exchange rate worth it be wiser to just buy from belfast. Also wondering how Ikea Dublin will pitch their prices for ROI or are their prices the same regardless of where in europe?
 
We are also waiting to buy a 'high sleeper' bed for one of the kids rooms. Just talking about this today, I suppose just wait and see.... An aside comment we priced the exact same product available in Argos UK website to Argos Ireland website with some 200 stg difference. Daylight robbery.... Hope Ikea will price fairly.
 
I suppose they'll set the price for as much as they can get, ie. much higher than Belfast.

This carry on is really pi$$ing me off. Check out Dell.ie, and then dell.co.uk or change the 'ie' in apple.com URLs to 'uk' and see the difference.

Do I really have to buy everything from the UK?
 
1) How urgently do you need it?
2) How do you feel about supporting the UK economy rather than supporting your own?
 
You can already see how Ikea price across Europe by going to www.ikea.com and selecting different countries.

For example a FAKTUM 3 drawer unit is priced at £89.05 on the UK site.

It is priced at €145.00 on the French site, or €139.00 on the Austrian site or if you really want it for $157.97 on the US site.

With a shop like Ikea there is transparency regarding the prices and to assume the usual Irish begrudgery that we are automatically going to be ripped off is ridiculous.

The choice will still remain to go to the Ikea in Belfast if it is cheaper to shop there.
 
Support the economy that supports you.

Note : Our economy it not supporting shoppers and hasnt for a long time.
 
People in Cork can shop in IKEA Ballymun if they wish. I will continue going to Belfast as I believe the RoI prices will be 'more of the same'. They can pay minimum wage in the new store. No need for the prices to be way ahead of the UK but they still will be I reckon.

Just go where it's cheapest until IKEA and the rest of them realise we won't allow ourselves to be fleeced any more.

Edit: IKEA already charge twice as much for a catalogue to the RoI!

I think we should all wait and see. No point in accusing a retailer of ripping people off before it even opens up..
 
Hi, Ive been told that Ikea are one company wo make an effort to keep their prices pretty universal throughout the countries, However, if you take into account, rent, electricity, wages down here are nearly twice as much as the uk it will have to reflect in the pricing, Plus our vat, your best option would be to take advantage of the high exchange rate right now! I have to head up the north to buy 2 velux windows for my extension that are 150 euro cheaper each!! It's scandalous!!!

A recent study shows a 5-6% differential in these (plus insurance) costs as against the UK. IBEC were unhappy with the study.

The same FAKTUM 3 door unit is as follows in Bucharest:-

40cm - 91 Euros
60cm - 113 Euros
80cm-137 Euros

A few companies I do business with out here are IKEA suppliers and they get around 30% (if they're lucky) of the retail price.
 
guys cant comment on how pricing would be in dublin but my advice is pretty simple- in exchange rate alone you're currently saving around 20% against 6 months ago, without taking into consideration savings against the local price you would pay.

i know of one girl from cork in the last fortnight who saved 4k against equivalent purchases in the south (all costs included).
 
Well then I for one will just wait for the store to open in Ballymun. I will compare the difference if I purchase the exact same 'high sleeper' unit in Belfast and any related costs such as van rental, petrol, and expenses for a day up North.... Before I purchase I will point out my findings to the manager in Ballymun. I pass by this site regularly so it won't be a hassle for me. I'm getting very concious of my outgoings and quite frankly cannot afford to carry on purchasing without due care and attention to get the best possible value for my family. Roll on end of July, bet its later in the year though!!
 
Just went to Ikea on Monday, all in all, it took me 12 hours, with 4 hours driving and cost e30 in petrol & e20 in food. Regardless of any price difference I will shop in Ballymun when it opens as I can't face that trek again. In fact I would have preferred to shop there now if they had just let it open when it was finished.

The irish govt are fueling people going to the north by not letting Ikea open till the M50 upgrade is finished. Once you are up there then you spot other price differences in other shops and with the rate at the moment it's nearly euro for pound. The VAT will also add significantly to the prices down here.

I would be buying my kitchen now while the rate is good. Be warned though, try to plan it online before you go, so you aren't there for hours. Do not underestimate the hell of that warehouse!
