Hello, how can one tell or find out if an IBAN given to you by another company is from a current account that can pay standing order payments to you ?
Will an online IBAN Convertor provide this information ?
I would be concerned that an IBAN number provided to me is for a straight forward deposit account , a fact that might not show up on a standard IBAN convertor .

Strange question. What exactly are you trying to do here @Secondincommand? As @Towger suggests only the payer - not the payee - can set up a standing order. And even after they do that they can unilaterally cancel it too. So you have no control either way even if you have some knowledge about the nature of the account identified by the IBAN.

Thanks for your replies guys . You've answered my question. The IBAN checker won't distinguish between a current and a deposit account. Obviously it would increase my chances of getting paid if the IBAN represented a current account rather than a deposit account and it would help to know in advance. Thanks again.

Since you are the payee it makes no sense to me that the payer is sending you an IBAN.
You should be sending them your IBAN so that they can set up a standing order paying into your account.
Very confusing scenario here to be honest...
