I do a bit of free lance sports writing for our local newspaper and I get a small sum per match report. However, as always they build up and I am owed €700 for all my reports for last year. The newspaper was usually very good in paying and I have received payment before but now they are holding back the payment stating a change in management has caused it. I have emailed the new management but have gotten no reply. Anyone any ideas how to get the money that was owed to me?

Send a letter to/or call the Financial controller. It most probably is just waiting for approval by the new management team but a small sum (to them) should just get approved and paid.

I agree with TheBlock, go talk with them first, you might want more work from them, no need to be to agressive yet. don't be afraid though, sometimes companies don't pay because they know some people are afraid to ask, it must be an irish thing.good luck

I have emailed the new management but have gotten no reply.

So email them again, and again if you have to. Have you tried calling them? Have you called in person to speak to anyone? These are the avenues that you must exhaust before you proceed with any other course of action. I see nothing in your original post that would lead me to believe that the new management have no intention of paying you what you are owed.

Don't email. Write an old fashioned letter. Sometimes this gets attention sooner than an email.
