I have a smart gas meter. Do I have to submit a reading?

I got a card in the door this morning from Gas Networks Ireland.

I had a look at the meter and there are two buttons - Press Button A until Meter Index is visible.
Then press Button B to update index.


But there is no mention of this on the card or on GNI's website?

Have I submitted a reading by pressing Button B?

p.s. After pressing Button B, I had this strange nostalgia expecting to get my coins back.

You can check your submitted readings on the website or mobile app

I have the same gas meter, don't think its a smart meter (as in it doesn't send readings directly to Gas Networks Ireland via GSM). I still have to manually note the reading and submit it online.

Pressing the red button shows the current reading, pressing the black after this updates the reading displayed.

It's not smart just digital

So you still need to submit a reading, the meter readers will still come around.
