I am due to retire from the HSE very soon and am trying to get a clearer picture of the practical experience of applying for the Job Seekers Pay Related Benefit (JSPRB) first and then the Occupational Supplementary Pension after 9 months. I will be retiring at 55 under a staturory retirment provision as a Psychiatric Nurse.
I understand that it is now possible to apply for OSP without first having to apply for a social welfare payment. However having looked at the figures, it would appear that the JSPRB is worthwhile exploring being more financially beneficial, even if it doesn't feel like the most dignified way of going about things.
Feelings aside, I have a number of questions:
Were you successful in getting JobSeeker's Pay Related Benefit first, particularly if you retired under a statuory retirement provision?
Was the application process straightforward, or were there any difficulties or delays?
Did you receive JSPR Benefit for the period you were entitled to and then apply for OSP afterwards?
And one final question (apologies if I am going sideways), did anyone who retired during the year receive an ASC refund - did Payroll calculate this automatically or did you have to complete an ASC12 form?
If there is a link directly to these questions on here, that would be great as I am surely not the first nor the last to go through this decision process and frankly, find the information available from HSE to be rather too vague.
I would really really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through this, as I am trying to get some clarity on how it all works in practice.
Many thanks
