How to & whom to declare additional income to?

Hi all,

I know there is some information available about this topic but just want to make sure I am doing all the right things here.

Since Nov 2017 I have taken up some part time teaching work. I am a paye worker working full time. This side project is just for a few hours per week. In 2017 I earned approx 500 euro in total. Expenses (insurance for teaching/equipment etc ) around the same. (I have kept hold of the receipts etc). I anticipate to make approx €5,000 throughout the year.

Is it as straightforward as completing a Form 11 prior to Oct 2018 for last years additional earnings and Oct 2019 for anything earned this year?

If the net earned is less than or equal to 5k per year a form 12 will suffice which is a little easier to fill in and does not require registering with revenue. Your dates are correct for either form and can be filled in online also to get a further few weeks grace.
