How to service a Husqvarna lawn Tractor.

I need to service my Husqvarna CTH 171 Garden Tractor and was wondering is there any websites which may be of help. thanks
 
My local car mechanic also services mowers and tractor mowers - them all having engines, wheels and stuff!

So you might have some luck with independent mechanics? Or do you want to do it yourself?

(I presume you haven't gone to a Husqvarna main dealer for price reasons?).

PS How do you find the CTH171? I've been looking at getting one - if you could go back and choose again would you still buy it?

I'm more interested in servicing it myself as I normally service my own car I think I should have no probs with a ride on.
As for your other Q. I bought it last year from new and have used it 20 or so times, (on a half acre) I haven't come across any problems yet. It started first thing after the winter, it's powerful as parts of my garden is on a hill, it's automatic, alarm build in when the box fills, it's quite nimble etc etc.
I have to say I do not have any other experiences with lawnmowers but I do feel Husqvarna is here to stay with me. Very happy with it and I would def recommend it to others.

I have a Castelgarden tractor mower - serviced it myself recently. I assume they're all fairly similar. I'm guessing it's a Kohler (sp?) engine in yours. I changed oil, plug and air filter in mine - once you lift bonnet they're all visible and easily accessible. You should grease nipples on all moving axels etc also - worth re-greasing.
 
Thanks for the replies folks, those links are very helpful and Leex you are quite right it is a Kohler engine, never thought about greasing the axels and moving parts. Is it safe to turn the machine on it's side to inspect the blades and maybe give it a bit of a clean??
 
I wouldnt reccomend turning it on its side, might not be great for the engine.( oil ) Lift the blades to the highest setting and then jack it up more to give you some room. then take of the blades and get the grinder at them.

What type of engine oil should I use, is it the same as the car stuff Leex..
