Hi, I have a very open plan garden as in house in the middle of a dip in the field and all the neighbours are up the hill looking straight into our house. I want to get top soil and creat a bank for my tree planting, give them the extra 5-6ft height to get them going. I was thinking of planting all those little trees you see on teh side of motorways, they seem to grown really fast and have lovely colours in autumn.
Anyway, I will obviously have to have a fence boundary, does anyone know how you put a top soil bank up against a fence, is it away from the fence or is there some sort of plywood for example you use up against it. How would you go about doing this?

Run a search here on retaining walls. A fence won't be up to the job.

Plant fast growing trees like Alder -it will grow at about 3-4foot per year. You will not have long to wait!

I wish I could afford a wall, a fence is even stretching it for us but we have the chicken wire bought and wind breakers etc for our fence already. So with regards to a soil bank, not looking likely.
