Hi,
I would be grateful for some advice. I've PHI for 5+ years. I will be working in the US for a period of nine months in the near future and my company will put a US PHI plan in place for that period. I want to ensure that I have no break in my Irish PHI during this period so that I have cover when I come back for holidays and also to ensure that I don't have to serve any waiting periods on my return. What is the best way to put adequate cover in place.
Many thanks for any advice on this matter.

I think the only way is that they continue to pay your Irish one as well.

Be careful of downgrading now and upgrading again next year. If you upgrade your PHI you may have to serve a waiting period to claim certain things.

Hi leabharlanna,

Vhi International policy is the ideal plan which covers you in the USA and means you won't have waiting times on return, if you choose cover
similar to your current plan.
Details in the following link;
https://www.vhi.ie/travel-insurance/international

If you scroll down the page, there's links for Table of Benefits for VHI International plan 1 and 2, also Terms and Conditions.

Maybe if your employer could pay for this type of plan, or this might be what they have lined up?

Regards, Snowyb

It is very important that you have the VHI International policy set up before you leave Ireland. You can not do so once you have left!
