I work full time as an accounts administrator and I am in a 2nd year evening IATI Accounting Technician course. (Came 4th in the country in my 1st year exams).

I have been offered a small job paying wages for about 10 people, just a few hours a week, job involves picking up clock cards, working out wages, writing cheques, leaving back cards and cheques every week etc. I was asked how much I expect to be paid, but I have no idea. How much should I expect to be worth my while, I have little time as it is with work, college and child?

I think you should charge about €20 per hour at least. How many hours a week do you think it would take, including travel time? In a small company I used to work for they had an accountancy firm doing the wages for 3 employees, who were all on a salary and getting paid the same every week, yet they charged €250 per month for doing the wages and P35 returns. Must have taken half an hour a month.
There's no way an accountancy firm will be bothered picking up clock cards etc. so don't be afraid to charge for your time.

You could compare your job to a clerical offficer ( public jobs )
starting salary around 24,000 euro per annum
