How much can I get back?

My daughter is due to get significant dental treatment over the next 12-18 months. This has come as a surprise, a colleague told me I can claim back some of this cost (c.€5k) using an MD1 or MD2 form.

Can anyone provide details of this scheme and an indication as to how much Iwould be likely to be able to claim back?

42% or 20% (depending on your marginal tax rate) of any qualifying expenses over €125 (individual claim) or €250 (joint/family claim) that are not otherwise reimbursed (e.g. through other insurance).
