How long does tile grout last in a bag?

I got some tiling done about 6 years ago, he left us some grout in case we ever needed it again.

Anyway some of the grout under the shower needs a bit of work and I was wondering if anybody knows off hand how long grout will last?

The bag is sealed and it's still soft.

I'm not sure but for grouting the shower area I'd go for a fresh bag, it is probably the most important area of tiling in the house.

If the grout has been missing for a while then make sure the adhesive behind the tiles hasn't got damp at the tiles will become loose, try sliding one or two, if they move then you're in a bit more bother.

The grout isn't missing it is just cracked and moving a bit.

If the tiles are moving I'll silicone the tiles in place instead of grouting.

Hi SLF. If the bag is soft then the grout is absolutely fine. If however you decide you want to put down grout from a fresh bag, make sure you buy the exact same bag you have at the minute as there are many different shades of grouts.

Thanks for that I'll use the old bag as there is plenty in it...

Thanks everybody for their answers
