How long does one have to take a case of unfair selection for redundancy?

Hi
Does anyone know how long an individual has before they can take a case for "unfair selection for redundancy please" against a prior employer.
Many thanks, Polo

It's the same as a claim for Unfair Dismissal (in fact, it is a claim for unfair dismissal) so the time limit is 6 months from date of dismissal (unless serious extenuating circumstances apply, in which case it's extended to 12-months, but extensions are rare)

Thank you for that.
Does that mean a claim has to be lodge with LRC before the 6 months or is correspondance with the company enough.

You take it to the Employment Appeals Tribunal not the LRC

You should start off with the Rights Commisioner as its less formal. You can then appeal to the EAT if you lose or are unhappy with the outcome.
