How I get hits or advertise my website cheaply?

I have just launched a website for a comercial venture hoping to attract Irish abroad, mainly US and Austrailia.
How do I get it advertised cheaply or manage to get traffic through it.
Answers in lay mans terms if you can, I'm not too technical and only developed it through purchasing and devoloping a template.
 
Cheaply? Start reading, and using google.

Might be cheaper just to pay someone to do it for you, if you consider what your time is worth.

I think maybe get someine to do it, tried looking at the google pages but Trying to figure out how to access and edit the 297 html errors might be a bit time consuming when I don't know how to access the html files.
I think it might be due to the fact that I am using a templated website (hired, if that is the right term).
Would anyone know somewhere in Cork to get this sorted and an estimated price?
