How does the taxi business work ?

I would like to buy a car and get the taxi plate.
But I can't drive the car so I woul like to look for
somebody who drive the car and pay me a kind of
rent. IS THAT POSSIBLE ?
 
Theres no point in buying a plate to rent it out. You won't make sufficient income. Far too much taxis about. And most of them are just pulling in a living working all hours. Big taxi money is long gone" Plus at 5k everyone that wants one cant get their own. Also if i recall they are only issuing licences now for wheelchair accessible taxis.
 
I have several friends who are taxi drivers, none of them are making a proper living, also I am regular user of Taxis when in Dublin, its worst up there with long Qs for ranks. I personally wont NOT buy a licence or start a taxi business myself - you will not make much businss, my friend in Waterford on average on a Monday to Friday from 7am - 1pm only might have 20 - 30 euro of jobs done.
 
You'll be lucky to see €500 a week in some areas.

Put that against the cost of running the car and paying a driver.
