I was looking on the komplett irish website and they were selling really good laptops (for me anyhow) about 200 to 300 euros cheaper than a laptop with similar specs on currys. How is this possible?

I'm not sure the shops you mentioned are renowned for good deals.

Having recently been in the market I found going to the manufacturer a better option.

But happy to be proved wrong if you've got an example.

Yea i just noticed that today. The official dell or lenovo website is selling really good laptops for about two to three hundred euros cheaper than currys and harvery norman. I will most certainly be using one of them and not currys or harvey norman for my next laptop.

Yes only online. Over in Holland. They have to send an adaptor as well if you buy something from them to connect to the irish mains.
Then they don't have the cost of the physical stores to maintain.

I bought https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08BGK8Y9Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 (this)recently. I waited about a year for it to be on sale. I got it for about €560.

The https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B094JMRQKX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 (i3 version) is on sale at the moment.

If you don't care how it looks, I would recommend going the refurbished route for a proper business laptop.

These are rock-solid work horses with decent specs: 8GB ram with 256 SSD disks

I bought a HP Pavilion 128 SSD 2 yrs ago and really liked the finish and performance. I use it for personal use, but I want to replace it with a device of equal(ish) quality but more memory. This one looks good Paid, but is thwre not an issue with Huawei and Google?

No issue with Huawei laptops. Microsoft can still sell them Windows. Google can't sell them Android for their phones/tablets.

I installed Linux on mine. I left the Windows partition and go into it sometimes but not that often. Linux is much more secure but it's not for everyone.

It's easy to install a second SSD on it also which I intend to do when I get around to it.

I came from HP Pavilion too but mine was about 9 years old. The D15 is much better.

I think it may be missing some symbols, but has most of them.
That could be an issue - I think they have european layout which is a bit odd if you're used to UK.

But if you're plugging in a dedicated keyboard then you're fine.

I bought a "Spanish" laptop and the different keyboard was a darned pain.
