Housing Adaptation Grant - Income Threshold & Xmas Bonus

Hi,

My aunt and uncle are applying for a Housing Adaptation Grant.

For income up to €30,000, they can get 95% of the cost of the works.

For income over €30,000, they can get 85% of the cost of the works.

Based on the cost of the job, that 10% differential amounts to €3,000.

The problem is that excluding the Christmas Bonuses, their income is €29,800, but including them, it’s €30,300.

I can’t find anything online to confirm whether the bonuses are included or excluded, but I see that for SUSI Grant purposes, they’re excluded.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Many thanks,

Gordon

Gordon,
I don't know re bonus, but have you checked the other disregards in calculating the 30,300?

I think the intention was that the assessment of income would follow the same basis as for social housing so the county councils had 1 basis to learn, and it might be easier to get details of that.

Hopefully someone will have more detail for you.

Thanks RedOnion.

They just have State Pension income plus a small private pension. They’re included, but the Christmas Bonus puts them over the €30k, and I suspect it isn’t included.

My parents got this grant and both received the xmas bouns.what % of the grant they got is unknown (I'll ask them when I'm talking too them next) but I would assume they are included.
A call too the county council might be the best option.
