House Sale Closing Date

When house sales contract date has been reached, is there any formalities before the keys are handed over? At what time of day does this happen? My house contract of all days is today, what happens if there is storm damage?

Hopefully you haven't cancelled your house insurance yet.

Storm or not, closing often get pushed out. It's dependent on purchasers bank having made mortgage funds available. Plus both solicitors need to meet.

Half the country is on lock down today so the probability of something not going to plan is heightened. Hopefully it goes smooth, but if I was purchasing I'd be trying to pull any trick possible to delay.
