Our house alarm went off when someone accidently pressed the panic button.

Unfortunately it has not been used for years, and we have forgotten the code.

How do we reset the code again.

Currently I have turned off the power to this location.

Just curious - what kind of location do you live in? Is the alarm mentioned on your insurance?

Complainer, its not an issue with location and insurance.

Its just someone in the house turned on the alarm by mistake. I have turned off the fuse that connects directly to alarm, however this fuse is used for the main kitchen and dining room lights too.

There must be an easy way just to reset the alarm from within the box itself?

Check the thread above, you need the engineering code, if it has been changed from the original you may have to contact an alarm installer, it may not have to be the original installer. I think that they can generally reset any panel?

Alternatively, if you take the cover off the alarm there should be a fuse on the mains connector block. Remove this and disconnect the backup battery leads, although it sounds by your post that the backup batt is shot anyway.
After this your alarm will be completely offline, "unless" the external bell has an independant battery, but I bet that this is completely discharged.
Let us know hiow you get on!
