Hourly rate for typing

A friend of mine who works as a medical secretary has been asked to do some overtime typing from dictaphone tapes. What hourly rate should she ask for ?. The overtime will be done in the clinic office.
 
Depending on what type of contract she may not be paid overtime as many have clauses "best for company, blah blah may include occasional overtime". If she is then its usually time and a half your regular salary.
 
I'm not sure if you mean overtime for an office which is not her normal place of work or overtime in her place of work. If it is the former, I have seen legal secretaries doing this type of work for between €15-€20 per hour but if it is the latter, as username said this should be in her contract.
 
Is it still classed as overtime then rather than second job, paying whatever a typist is paid?
 
Is it her employer or the consultant asking her to do this?

If it's the employers it will be standard OT rates, if its the consultant it will depend on the area. I know a few girls who do the nixers and have heard €80 per tape for a surgeon but €20 for psych. I'm assuming the tapes would be full.
 
I was going to ask same question as username. It's not really overtime if it's basically a second job.

I know legal secretaries who have charged €15-€20 per hour for that type of work or €10 per tape (if the office is still using tapes and has not progressed to digital dictation, in general i'd find medical secretaries would work from tapes).
