Hot press tap/valve positions?

One of the littleuns was messing around with some (or all?) of the 4 taps in the hot press. Now weve no hot water in one of the upstairs bathrooms.

Anyone know what positions these 4 taps are meant to to be in?
 
No way to know without seeing it, but my guess is that they're all simple 'open/close' operations, and they all need to be open. I can't see why one would be closed in normal circumstances
 
good, does clockwise or anticlockwise mean open? Or should i just listen for the water gushing in when i open them?

Does it cause any damage in anyway if any are closed while the heating is on?
 
its still not working, ive tried them in a variety of positions? How do i tell if they're open or closed?
 
clockwise = open anti-clockwise - closed.......... you may now have an airlock though
 
try turning on the hot tap in the room where the tap is not working,when its turned on go to the hotpress and one at a time turn each of the 4 valves in the opposite direction .if the hot tap doesnt come on after turning the valves,return them to their original position.
 
It all depends on whether the valve is facing towards you or away from you.
 
well im pretty sure theyre all open now but the water pressure is still way too low.

Is this an air lock? Cured by sucking on it or the garden hose trick?

yup that's correct.....turning it to the left (anti clockwise) is opening the valve
and turning to the right (clockwise) is closing it.

Its the exact same way as turning your kitchen or bathroom taps on and off or radiator valves also.
 
well it was anti clockwise for open, i opened em all but there was only a trickle, ie an airlock, i put the garden hose spraying into it and it sorted it out, ta for all yer help
