Honda Civic or Open Astra?

Had my heart set on a new/nearly new 2 door Astra but came across a very tempting deal on a new Civic - which would you go for? Thanks

Both are quite good.

I like the looks of the 3 door Astra particularly.

Drive both, and check out insurance quotes. I hear Civics are rated by some insurers due to the "Chav" issue.

I'd wait for the new Civic next year. Civic's right now are ugly as sin if you ask me.

I like the look of the new Astra alright but personally I don't trust Opels at all.

Although, I used to be a Fan, Opel's are bad news. Too many problems across the whole range.

As much as I dislike Japanese Cars, I cannot fault the Civic. Watch out for High Insurance though due to them being a target for Boy Racer / Theft.

Thanks leaning towards the Civic at the moment because the deal is better probably as its the new but old model being replaced in 2006. Was told by my current insurers that both would cost same to insure? Both are quite nice sporty lookers alright but I have to forget looks and think finances! Also the Honda depreciates better?
