Hello

I am hopefully buying a house with my wife - for now the mortgage will be only in my name as my wife as the Covid Subsidy on her payslip and should level 5 now come staying at home again).
I look now for a mortgage policy which covers both of us
Can someone shortly explain what the difference is between Joint Mortgage Protection / Dual Mortgage protection?
In case of death of one partner the Joint mortgage protection insurance terminates after payout ? With the dual mortgage protection the other party remains insured?

Second Question on Home insurance:

How much cover will I need?
For the building itself it's the value the house + what is put into it after renovation - for the content I make an estimate and also include e.g. the value of a new kitchen in it?

Yes, joint life pays out once, on first death.

Dual life pays out twice.

Building insurance is based on the rebuild cost of the house, not the market price.

Contents is anything that can be moved, so kitchen units are not contents.
