Does anyone have any experience in getting home contents insurance while living in a house that has been divided up into rental units?

I’m living in a one bed apartment in a house that is split into 4 rental units and any of the insurance providers I’ve spoken to don’t offer cover on this type of dwelling.

The primary reason for getting contents insurance is to get cover for a piece of jewellery.

if its a self-contained unit then you shouldnt have an issue.

Would it be cheaper to insure the jewellery on it's own ?
