Has anyone here used Hillcrest Joinery in Derry for their windows and doors, the product quality looks top notch and I would like to get some feedback on them ?

My niece used them. Lovely windows. Nearly drove her into an early grave with failure to meet delivery deadlines.
 
Hello, Seán here from Dingle. I've used Hillcrest also. Got the windows installed in 07. Firstly, the windows do look good, but, after that, it's all problems. I don't think that the company value their customers, I've being trying to get someone at the company to call me back for the past three weeks, as i've got some problems with the windows and they still haven't called me back. I was dealing with a guy called Chris, but, he's now left the company (god help any company that subsequently employ Chris, he was useless), they now have another guy working there, and during my initial conversations with him, he seemed the opposite of Chris, but, now, i'm not so sure, again, i just dont think that they value their customers, not returning calls is very poor customer service. I was told that i would have someone from the company on site to fix the problems "within three weeks", that was about two months ago, and still nothing. To end, their products do look well, but, customer service is not good, in fact, it's terrible. If they do come and fix the problems, i'll post again. If anybody want to message me and have a chat about their windows, that won't be a problem.
 
My doors finally arrived yesterday,and I am very happy with them BUT this company has the worst customer services in Ireland !

It took a month from date of order to get the doors measured, and 2 months to get the doors made.........thats 3 months from date of order.

As I said, I'm very happy with the quality but the "Service" has taken most of the good out of it
 
I don't think so as this wood has strictly limited availability and is horrendously expensive to acquire legally. It is used primarily in the manufacture of quality stringed musical instruments such as guitars and ukeleles. The main customers for sapele supplies are in the US, Japan, Canada, Spain and Mexico.
 
Just as i thought, Sapelle here is commonly known as mahoganny which only has a grade of MODERATE DURABILITY compared to Teak the most commonly used species in Ireland being Iroko which has a grade of HIGH/VERY HIGH DURABILITY. Sapelle is cheaper than Iroko.

Alot of people just assume when they hear hardwood that it is high durability but there is quiet a large range of hardwoods available in Ireland.
