I have a heating control that I want to change, It's called a TRAC control. The problem with it is it only turns on manually because the round timer clock buttons are stuck. My question is, can I go out and buy any heating control and fit it on or does it have to be another TRAC control? It works off the oil and heats the rads and boiler.

Also Is putting in a new controller a job for average diy or will i need an electrican??

I recently had the same problem. I called this heating and plumbing guy and he told me to check out SEI site for a grant to upgrade the heating controls.

I did, applied for the grant, Thomas did an excellent job and the grant covered the majority of the cost. I now have an excellent electronic dual heating and boiler control system that cost me next to nothing. I had to pay up front and had the grant money within about 5 weeks.

You have to use one of the approved suppliers but the SEI website has a list of them so you can get a local supplier or one who comes recommended.
