The longest waiting time is 2 years which only applies to any pre-existing illnesses and conditions, in relation to any extra cover on the new plan.
1. So, the extra cover on Essential Health 300 is full cover for joint replacement surgery compared to 60% cover with One Plan 250.
If you already need a hip replacement, if you have surgery done in the next 2 years, 60% cover would apply in a private hospital, so a shortfall
would be payable for the 40% difference.
If you are diagnosed for joint replacement surgery after July and it is a new condition, full cover would apply straight away in a private hospital.
2. Also, cardiac and special procedures in the Hermitage and Galway Clinic are covered with Laya, no cover on One Plan 250.
3. No special procedures cover(joint replacement surgery) in the Beacon with VHI, full cover with Laya in the Beacon for this cover.
A 2 year wait would apply for pre-existing conditions for 2 + 3 above. Any new illnesses will be covered in 2 + 3 on Essential Health 300 straight away.
So, overall waiting time of 2 years only applies to any pre-existing illnesses, for any extra cover on the new plan.
Everything else would be covered straight away with no waiting attached.
Changing plans is straight forward, you can switch by telephone or online if it suits.
