Hi,

My Health Insurance premium is fully paid by my employer. Also, since October my co-habiting partner's premium has also been paid by my employer.

I understand that if i paid my premium myself, that I would get 20% tax relief on the premium. Given that my employer has paid this 20% to Revenue, I need to claim it back.

Can I claim back 20% of the premium paid for my partner? We're not yet married so our tax affairs are separate.

Regards,

J

As best as I can work this out. The Health Insurance Relief has been credited by Revenue, but the BIK was overpaid. Can anyone confirm?

Revenue Info
The following line is on my P21 under Tax Credits:
Medical Ins Rlf 199.40

Under Tax Credits on the ROS home screen it says:
Medical Insurance Relief €997

So it seems that the first figure is 20% of the second figure.
Payslip Info
I get €90.21 in my payslip every month as BIK payment which is taxed as income and then €90.21 is taken out of my after tax pay as a non-tax deduction.*

This €90.21 a month is €1082.52 annually which is more than the €997 I am getting the tax credit on the basis of.

*I have excluded the BIK for my partner which doesn't seem relevant to my taxes.
Aviva Info
My Aviva premium is displayed as €880.00 in my Aviva self service.
