Headphones not working

Hi,

could anyone help me with this problem; my headphones are not working with my dektop computer (eMachines 5210). They used to work prior to motherboard replacement. I tried everything in sounds settings, but nothing happened.

Headphones work when I plugged them instead of speakers at the back, but they won't work when plugged into the front port.

Has anyone any suggestions?

sounds like cables connecting the sound port at the front to motherboard were not connected
