Not sure if in right place;

Basically we're rented a house for the last 17 months. Gave our notice yesterday as hoping to move into our new home within next week or two.

The house we rented is unfurnished with our current furniture in it. There are a few artistic endeavours by ds1 on walls and we're currently getting these tidied up. Also going to steam clean carpets so house will be pretty decent by time we leave.

But landlord mentioned showing house to new tenants in the next month. TBH with two young kids, two stressful jobs and a house move to plan - not sure if I'm in the mood to get a house ready for him to show to new tenants (I'm pretty house proud - even in rental thing) and thought of people traipsing about examining our belongings especially on the days where everything will be in boxes and upside down just doesn't appeal. Do I retain the same rights to privacy to the end of the lease?

Do you have a written lease?

If not in general I think landlords are entitled to bring someone provided there is adequate notice.

We do to last July; but the extension of time was never formalised. (would say this was to suit him as he is getting E900 per month in a rural location for an unfurnished house).

What sort of notice? And could he expect showhouse conditions . . . (as I say packing is not pretty).

If you informally kept on paying rent then it would be on the same conditions as the original lease.

Sure what can he expect if you are in the middle of a move anyway? Maybe just ring him and tell him straight out that as you are in the middle of moving there will be boxes, things not perfect etc just in case it might put off a prospective tenant.
