Harvey Norman 24 mts interest free

I'm looking to buy a Fridge and I've spotted it in Harvey Norman, they're offering the 24mts interest free deal. Anyone taken this out? Can you pay for the entire item during the two years or is it stretched to 3 so you must pay interest at some point?
 
Not sure but I heard a rep from Harvey Norman on the radio recently saying that, economically, their entry into the Irish market had been a distrastrous one for them. If you're paying a deposit, make sure you don't leave the store without the fridge!
 
check what it would cost you in another retailer.I looked at an LG 60" PLASMA in Harvey Norman and it was €2.019 over 24 months interest free I bought the same TV in Power City for €1629.00 "INTEREST FREE MY FOOT"
 
It might be an old trick, but to answer the OP's question, it's literally whatever price you agree to pay divided by 24. That's your monthly repayment amount.
 
I always found Harvey Norman very expensive - was looking at fridge freezers over the w/end and they were on average €50 more in Harvey norman
 
Be careful with this one.

I once bought soemthing on interest free with Dixons I think not Harvey Norman but I think they follow the same procedure. My case was a 12 month interest free.

Basically they set up the payments with a finance company - They pay the shop and then you pay them. THe payments are set up to pay back the amount with intertest over 4 years or something like that. I asked to make the monthly payments equal to the full amount / 12 but they said this was not possible.

It is your responsibiity to pay the full amount yourself outside the normal Direct debit they set up. If people don't then then high interest rate nearly 30% p.a. kicks in.

Not sure it happens everywhere but it did happen in my case. I knew what I was doing so was very conscience to pay the full amount back in the required tiemscale to get the interest free option. People who are not aware and don't understand just keep paying the direct debits for the 4 years or so and ultimately pay 30% interest p.a.

We purchased a plasma TV and blu-ray player in November with Harvey Normans, the situtation as described above is not the case with them, it's literally the amount divided by 12, 18 or 24 months, no interest and no catches but I would agree with one of the previous posters who said that Harvey Normans are not the cheapest out there, we were lucky and happened to get a good deal on the TV but you're best to shop around or at least haggle with them if you've seen the same product cheaper elsewhere.
