Halifax Account

€100k. Bank of Scotland (Ireland), trading naming Halifax, is regulated by the Irish Financial Regulator. Here's a [broken link removed] to HX's website where there's confirmation of that.

Thank you for reply. They state that depositors are covered to 100,000 Euro. They dont state if that is per depositor or per accounts i.e. if there are joint accounts is it still 100,000 or is it that amount for each account holder.

€100k per depositor per institution.

More info at http://www.itsyourmoney.ie/ with worked examples including the joint account case.

The maximum amount you can get under the scheme is €100,000 for each bank, building society or credit union we regulate. This means that even if you have an amount greater than €100,000 in deposits with an instituion - for example €110,000 - you will only be entitled to a maximum of €100,000.

If you have more than one account with an institution, including joint accounts, the money in those accounts is added together to calculate the total amount of your deposits with that institution.
