My Sister has just started to receive the Half Rate Careers Allowance, I told her that I think its going to be scrapped in Dec.

What do people think will happen to this welfare payment?

Do you think its likely to be scrapped or just cut?

Also do they review your claim, and how often?

Thanks.

Hi Coolatjc...

I hope to God you're wrong and this payment doesn't get scrapped... It's all that stands between my darling mum and a Nursing Home....

I get the Half-Rate Carers, but I can tell you, I DON'T spend it on myself.... It's used to pay some of the additional costs of Mum being in kidney failure... Taxis to and from her hospital appointments, her special (and expensive) diet, huge amount of additional laundry, more frequent replacement of bed linen, pyjamas etc (don't ask!), someone to be with her when I have to be out for a few hours, and the additiional heating costs... Mum's always cold... You should see my gas bills!...

I couldn't care for Mum without this payment... I just couldn't afford to give her what she needs...

When Mum was diagnosed, and I realised the costs involved in looking after her properly, we (Dr, Community Nurse, Social Worker) decided that the only option for her was a Nursing Home, and she was on the list... Then HRC became available, and this has enabled me to look after her at home... If it DOES go, I can see lots of older and ill people ending up in instutional care...

I got my HRC in late 2007 (Backdated to Sept when it was introduced), and I've never had my claim reviewed...

Let's just start praying!....

Hi Darth,

I hope for your sake and my sisters that they leave well alone with this payment!

I have just read so much about cuts from the snip report I dont think anyone knows what the hell is going on.

I have read from complete cuts, to 30% cuts, and I have even heard stories about everyone being called in after xmas for reviews!

I was hoping to find some positive information to be able to tell my sister that everything will be ok!

Its crazy whats going on at the moment, especially when we can all see where real cuts should be made, and that is from people at the top and not the bottom.

The idea of not being able to care for Mum scares the s**t out of me, Cool....

I'm wondering just how the HSE is going to aquire, let alone fund, nursing home care for all those who can't be cared for at home due to money problems...

You know, it would be good for a bunch of us to get together, and if this does come to pass, take our loved ones into the Dept. of Social Welfare Head Office and leave them there...

If the state was to be left with the whole mess, I'd say that there'd be a rapid about turn!....

People really should be taking to the streets.

It worked for the pensioners!

Its all this not knowing I think that really is wrecking peoples heads.

Yes Cool... It's DREADFULLY worrying...

Taking to the streets sounds good to me!...

It's awful to even suggest cutting what actually SAVES the state huge amounts of money... Just doesn't make sense...

pinch valve Particulates

Major components of a pinch valve consists of body and a sleeve. The sleeve will contain the flow media and isolate it from the environment hence reducing contamination to the environment. Generally used for slurries or processes with entrained solids, because the flexible sleeve allows the valve to close droptight around solids—solids that would typically be trapped by the seat or stuck in crevices in globe, diaphragm, butterfly, gate, or ball valves. The sleeve material can be selected upon the corrosiveness and abrasiveness of the flow media, a suitable synthetic polymer can be chosen. A pinch valve http://www.corrosion-resistant-valves.com/Pinch-valve.html may be the best type of valve for flow control application if the operation temperature is within the limit of the polymer.
