for a hearth under a tara multi fuel stove

I need granite 60 inch X 26 inch X 30mm thick with an eclipse shape in front

My question is Is it necessary to have a joint in a granite hearth of this size?

The granite suppliers are recommending one joint in it, but I wonder is it just easier for them to have two smaller pieces to handle and work with??

Has anyone any eperiences with 30mm thick granite under a stove:confused:

I am led to believe you do need 2 halfs install any working fire and every says it has to be or it expands in hotter places and cracks... you can try it in one piece see if it work, my guess is it might be alright but then you take the risk...
