This place is going under the hammer soon. It's set at €3.5 million. No doubt Shane objected to using a "guide price".

I like the heated pool and tennis court. Every fella should have one of these pools - great for the limbs.

Now, why would anyone leave this mmmmm mmmmmmmm sylvan paradise to decamp to Dublin 6 of all places . . .

It's part of a piece.

Ross sold his Carrickmines house and ancillary land in 2004 and got millions from a builder.

He bought the Enniskerry house (Glenbrook) for over €6 million in 2005. I suppose you could say this period was close to the peak of the Celtic Tiger era and the senator overpaid somewhat.

His parents house in Enniskerry also went under the hammer (rather cheaply I think) at €1.3 million in 2019. So his share of the proceeds wouldn't be much . . . for him, that is - not for folks like us !

Now he's offering Glenbrook back to the market at €3.5 million.

So his house purchases and sales do not appear Haughey-esque in their profitability. The more so as he still has to get a decent place in Dublin 6 for himself and Ruthie - shall we say €1.6 - €2 million ?

Of course this is not Ross' only venture of late. He is apparently writing a new book on the RTÉ situation. So his losses in home sales won't bother him unduly.

All in all we can only wish the senator and his wife the best of luck in this latest property sale.

They should add an extra 500 grand to the price as the residence of such an esteemed individual.

Do I detect a little bit of envious sneering?

It's a lovely house in a lovely village that thankfully isn't too far for me. I pop up there around once a month for a stroll up to Powerscourt House and a coffee and fruit scone in the square.

(Happy memories of lockdown pints in the late afternoon at the outdoor bar counter at the village Hotel and the camaraderie at the clocktower as Garda patrol cars circled glaring at us as if we were the worst of humanity.)

Confession: I used to have a bit of a crush on Ruth B when she was on RTE TV in the 70s!

Sure look if its not good enough for the Rosser you'd be insulting everyone here suggesting its good enough for them :)

I make no bones about it, sir - I am indeed envious of whoever own this sylvan paradise and its piscine aquamarine . . . Comme elle est belle !
No doubt a full measure of purgatory awaits me for this defiance of the Tenth Commandment.

And wouldn't those comments qualify as buailim scíth ?

This led me to discover that Ruthie was TCD class of 1967 . . . while Shane was TCD class of 1971.

Well, in hindsight, one always felt that Shane's outbursts and escapades would never evoke a flailing from Dad.

Mummy Ru-Bel or Mummy Ruthie would always save the little chap :p
