Gran canaria - family hol/accomodation

Having dallied too long I missed affordable prices for the other islands but can still afford flights to Gran Canaria over Xmas!

Looking for accomodation for a family with 3 kids under aged 6. Leaving Dublin approx 21st Dec and staying 2 or 3 weeks.

Ideally somewhere with at least 2 bedrooms, v close to beach and if it has a kiddie club then we're in heaven!!!!

Do you have any experience with Gran Canaria - which part is best to go to?? Budget of 2K to 2.5K for accomodation.
 
Avoid Puerto Rico - very very down market.

Mogan or Maspalomas are the best areas for families.

Have stayed there myself over Xmass.
Very private, secure and convenient.
Look for a large bungalow. Have 3 pools there including 1 heated.

Near everything you need, about 1km from beach.

After lots of trawling of the web, flights, accomodation, islands etc have decided not to go at Xmas time. We're a family of 5 and with flights and accomodation we'd be spending at least E4k and don't seem to get anything particularly nice for that.

Would be prefectly prepared to splash out with that kind of money but not for what seems to be on offer.

Tks a lot for your input and hopefully we'll get there another time and use the pointers here.
