Government Bonds- newbie

Hi there,
So i've decided to invest in a government bond after doing lots of reading and getting some advice.
Now i've never done anything like this before and therefore feel like a sitting duck.
I would like some advice as to where to buy them, what the process is (i.e how do I make the transfer etc) and what i should be wary of.
Looking at the ntma "where to buy" link, it seems like for my level of investment (€60k), there charges don't fluctuate too much.
I just want to make sure i'm not being exploited or given false info.

Do a search for irish stock brokers specialising in irish and foregin bonds, also look for the best commission rate too.
