Good Car for learner driver

I'd say a Nissan Micra, small, easily parked, good rear visibility, reliable and economical. I learnt to drive on an old 90s model.

My first car was an old Fiesta and got crashed into 3 times when I was parked. Twice in car park spaces (legally parked) and once when I was parked on a road outside the driving test place in Finglas by some girl who had her test the next day - I hope the silly cow failed!!

Basically get a car you don't really care about because then you won't be too upset if anything happens. I went for the Fiesta over the Micra as I thought it had a bit more "street cred" - no way was I driving a teachers/nuns car!!!

Anything Japanese. Would stay away from Fiats (due to reliability and depreciation).

Agree with Budgie

dont buy a Fiat (fix it again tomorrow)
and Head Gasket failure..

Speaking from experience.. :(

A Toyota Yaris is a good learner car. Lots doing the rounds with driving schools.

I bought a Polo but driving instructors told me it was too awkward a car for a beginner - I was told by several that I would have been far better off with a Micra - easy to manage and reliable.
