I may be handing in my notice at the start of 2015. My contract states 20 days holiday and that I must give three months notice.
I would hope to take four weeks off in Jan, just after I've handed in my notice (could be tricky I know) and I would then work out the rest of my notice in Feb and March.
The company's holiday year runs Jan-Dec so does that mean I won't be able to take all of the days in January?
Well if you're planning on leaving at the end of February, you'll only have accrued about 9/52 of your 20 days leave. There's probably not many employers who'd accommodate what you're suggesting!
You get 1.66 days a month. You'll only be there 3 months of 2015, so you get 5 days out of the 20 you're looking for. Unless you can carry some over from this year?
You'd want to have all your ducks lined up in a row to get 15 days unpaid leave during your notice period.
