We are getting married in June.
I have a mortage of 200K
My wife-to-be has a bit more than that amount on deposit (from sale of her house two years ago)
We have decided with all of the uncertainty around safety of her deposits etc., that we want to pay off most of the mortgage on what will be our home (ie my house).
So, do we have to wait until June for her to gift me more than 27K, or could we just do that now, as it will be in the same tax year, and will be husband and wife in this tax year?
Or who could advise us on same?
PS We know that her deposits are guaranteed but in reality, it could be years we think for the government to meet these guarantees if things go bad,

I can't answer your question, but hope you aren't marrying this woman for her money.;)

Personally, in order to keep things simple, I'd wait until after marriage date to transfer the funds and then do the usual stuff (register deeds in joint names, residual mortgage in joint names, etc.)
